About Me

My name is Sabina Ekuaoye Eshun, and I am from Ghana. I completed my undergraduate degree in Political Science and Chinese, and I am now pursuing a Master of Arts in Human Rights and Social Justice at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, Canada.

Growing up in Ghana inspired me to care deeply about equality and fairness. I have always believed that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity, regardless of background, gender, or social position. My passion for helping people and speaking for the voiceless is what drew me to this field of study. It troubles me to see people treated unjustly simply because of who they are. My faith reminds me that God created everyone equal and that He does not have favorites, as written in Romans 2:11. I also hold close the words from Leviticus 19:18, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” because I believe that genuine love and empathy can transform our world. Real change begins not only with leaders and institutions, but also with individuals who choose to act with kindness and justice every day.

Outside of academics, I have a strong love for fashion and creativity. I see fashion as a form of art and expression that tells stories about culture, identity, and confidence. It also reminds me that advocacy and self-expression can take many forms. These include through words, art, and how we present ourselves to the world. Academically, my journey at Thompson Rivers University has been both inspiring and transformative. The program has deepened my understanding of human rights theories and practices and has helped me see how global issues connect with local realities. Courses such as Foundations of Human Rights and Social Justice, Settler Colonialism and Decolonization, and Contemporary Capitalism have challenged my thinking and encouraged me to see the world through critical, inclusive, and intercultural lenses.

Through my studies, I have learned how social structures and policies shape people’s lives, and how knowledge can be used to advocate for justice. My goal is to apply what I have learned to promote equality and defend human dignity, particularly for children and marginalized communities.
